Global Terroir
A band of young fellas take the road to a party that they have trouble to find the location. On the road, they listen to a pirate radio that tells stories and other anecdotes about locals. Endowed with an omniscient power, the radio show follows, sometimes to their homes, the protagonists of the stories to make them talk about themselves and describe them. The radio host punctuates his stories with pieces of the local musical catalog.

Director Statement
Global Terroir is the final result of a very long process of work.
The idea of making this film came during a trip in kayak on the last French and European wild river La Loire, which is flowing alongside the town where I grew up, Tours. After this great experience, I decided to start a photography series about The Loire and the surrounding towns. During the hikes along the river, I was literally
shrouded by the places. I have been living around this places all my life but I never took the time to really explore it.
The towns, the rivers, and every person I met during the photographic sessions recounted me stories that photography couldn’t fully narrate.
So I decided to choose my stories among the tremendous amount of locals rumors I heard during my research, and re-write it all to shape the film. The more I was searching to feed the screenplay,
the more I discovered the richness of the places. Music, stories, clothes, local radio stations etc. I was driving alongside the river when I heard a local radio station running by a class of children. This gave me the idea to narrate the stories through a supernatural omniscient radio, which could speak with the characters and
make them talk about their life.
Language was really important as well, I grew up in this kind of town where the patois meet the young slang. As the film was composed of a lot of dialogue, that parameter was really important to take into consideration for the screenplay. Through four fictional portraits, I wanted to create an atmosphere which is using these codes – languages, slang, countryside etc – and talking about the great diversity of the inhabitants of this kind of town (by taking Tours as an example). All of this through the ordinary but no less
important destiny of the characters.
