We are in need of actors / actress for a short film about maternal health.

LEA
A 22 year old rural poor housewife. Currently, she is pregnant with her third child and she has left her husband because of domestic violence.
Characteristics: Hardworking, tough, assertive her soft spot is only shown towards her children. World-weary and hardened by life, she looks old for her age.

DRA. RINA
A 32 year old private-school trained OB-Gyne. She graduated with top honors but volunteered as a barrio doctor (stationed in the rural health unit) before her specialization and is now working for the provincial hospital
Characteristics: Soft-spoken and polite, from a sheltered background, devoted to helping women and children, single and devoted to her profession.

SUPPORTING CHARACTERS

1. Nanay Nilda, deceased grandmother of Lea, traditional Subanen hilot • White/gray long hair, 60 years old and above

2. Aling Dolores: BHW/friend of Lea • Late 30’s-mid 40’s, “Tita-looking,” masayahin, ma-chika

3. Aika, 4 year old daughter of Lea Morena, expressive eyes

4. Buboy, 5 year old son of Lea Moreno, expressive eyes

5. Reggie, young male nurse 6. Ria, a young female nurse

7. Lea’s husband 23-28 years old • Moreno, tall, manual laborer

Working Title “OLONGAPO”

We are currently looking to cast the following for an independent full-length film project:

MAIN CHARACTERS:

Mama Mia – Late 40s. A transgendered woman who owns and manages a disco bar named after herself. While the bar that she owns attracts a mixed crowd, Mama Mia discreetly arranges hook-ups for her stable of transvestite and transgendered sex workers.

Rebecca – Early 20s. A transgendered woman murdered in a motel while having an affair with an American military man. She simultaneously engages in sex with different men despite the fact that he has a partner with whom she was engaged.

Mariquita – Early 20s. Transgendered who also works for Mama Mia. While she is Rebecca’s friend, they both compete for the same pool of clients. They always try to undo each other.

Migs – Late 20s. Gay bar dancer who also has affairs with almost everyone in town. College educated and very fluent in English who chose to be a gay bar dancer for quick and easy cash.

William – Late 30s. Caucasian. Very liberal and openly accepts Rebecca’s prostitution work.

Jericho – Early 20s. A member of the US Army. He comes from a very religious and politically conservative family.

Nathan – Early 20s. A US military man. Jericho’s best friend.

Aaron – Mid 20s. A tattoo artist. He acts as a commentator in the film. Must have a lot of tattoos.

Maria – Mid 20s. A hooker/go-go dancer. She is in love with Migs but to the latter, she is just a low-priority client.

Cigarette Vendor – Early 20s.

We are also in search of bit players, both males and females, of various ages, races, and types.
