Jagtar film at the iChill Manila International Film Fest Jan 2018

Jagtar

A senior Punjabi woman (Jagtar) comes from India to Canada for the very first time to help her daughter (Jaspreet) through a time of particular stress. An injury and the extreme Canadian cold render Jagtar incredibly culturally alienated and lonely. She remains heartily determined to make a difference.

Director Biography

Italian raised, Francesco relocated to Britain at an early age: He has been involved with film since around 2003 – after experiencing film industry assistant ranks for several years he worked his way up to directing and cinematography. He now shoots short and long-form creative and narrative visuals while based in both Canada and Europe.

Director Statement

I wanted to tell a truthful story that is close to my heart, but that involves pushing the boundaries of my comfort zones – thus a film in a language that is not my own and sympathising with characters that are significantly different to me or those appearing in my previous works. This is a film for Punjabis, Sikhs, and any ageing immigrant exploring and bringing goodness to another country.
