Samos – The Faces Of Our Border film to join iChill Manila International Film Fest

At the border of the Schengen area, international laws and conventions have forced thousands of people trying coming to Europe to live in inhuman camps. One of them is the Samos hotspot (refugee camp) on the eponymous Greek island.
In the camp built for 600 people, more than 6,000 asylum seekers currently live, awaiting a response from the Greek government.
Many NGOs have set up offices there to help these people live a more dignified life. The everyday of those volunteers are marked by the stories of the horrible and dramatic lives of the people they help.
Through 27 interviews with migrants, volunteers, locals, European border guards, Greek government employees, among others, this documentary attempts to expose the dramatic situation that has developed in Samos, where people survive in inhuman conditions. Through the many individuals eyes, it paints a global picture of European migration reality nowadays.

This is not inspired by true stories.
They are true stories.
Their stories,
Who write our History.

The 27 interviews were conducted in June 2019.
